Shout out to POC and Red E for making my trip that much easier. CS4W hosts an Annual -  4Peaks and Sugarloaf Mountain trail clean up and revegetation To Rene, Power Traveller, Runtastic, Wintec Solutions, Race Food and Pure Adventures for everything that goes into putting on such a fantastic event. Thank you to the fantastic staff at Moolmanshoek for the great food, rugby and race village. Thank you to Jeep Team for still backing me through it all, Salomon for keeping the feet strong and safe, to Suunto for telling where to go and to rest for 100hours post event. While there are a few events in the coming weeks the next big challenge I will take on is the Sky Run light, to experience it and be ready to race. The #4Peaks has left me only wanting to come back racing stronger and faster than ever before, so I am going to enjoy every tough event and training run for the next few months to build my base towards tackling the trail running monsters of 2016. Every time Paul turned around I would sit down for a moment but it would be followed with ‘Claudia you are stronger than this’ and I would be willed back up and carried on going! The climb up pyrimad2 was great and the run home was fantastic where I finally started feeling a bit more confident and we managed to stretch our legs. I experienced a bit of sense of humor failure and to be completely honest fully realized the extent of what breaking a bone does to ones overall fitness. The first fence crossing was followed by the hike up to Visierskerf. The conditions could not have been clearer but as only mountains can offer, this does still mean a slippery downhill scramble. The first peak is worth the climb for the downhill scramble that you get afterwards. While non marked routes are where true trail runs take you, I was happy to have Suunto GPS in one or two little questionable spots to keep us on course. You summit the 4 peaks that surround the reserve beginning with, Sekonyella’s Hat (2312m), second is Visierskerf (2407m) followed by Pyramid two ending with Pyramid 1 (2167m).This is a non-marked route but the horse shoe shape race makes you encircle MoolmansHoek from start to end, keeping the nature reserve on your left hand side with the fence line of Lesotho and South Africa darting between you. The4 peaks takes place in Moolmanshoek starting and finishing in the private game reserve which is encircled by the Witterbery mountain range. A great treat was to see Cousin Juan there marshaling the event and sharing a beer at the end of a long yet great day. Paul whom decided to stay with me the whole way, seeing Sune, Neil, Cindy, Yanneka and so many more faces. I however cannot complain as I am nevertheless back on the trails and was kept company by many familiar faces and friends. While my heart may be ready to be back on the trails, 3 months post break and not enough training has left my legs far from ready to tackle the Mountains with the enthusiasm I would prefer. I was able to enjoy the incredible views that you can only get when trail running. I had an incredible time once I got up the first climb and the cramping in my calves eased up. It is the first time I have done this event but it certainly will not be the last.
